Dr. Steven Thomas is the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for Woodland. He started his career in education in 1993 as a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Meridian Middle School in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. In 1998, he came to Woodland as an Assistant Principal for Woodland Primary East and then later became the Principal of Woodland Primary School in 2002. In 2005, he moved to the Educational Support Center becoming the Director of Continuous Improvement and Accountability and later then the Assistant Superintendent of the Teaching and Learning Department.
Dr. Thomas holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Loyola University of Chicago conveyed in 2012. He also holds a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision also from Loyola University of Chicago awarded in 1997. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Elementary Education from National Louis University.
Two characteristics that drive him as a professional are continuous improvement and curiosity. Both are essential elements in the Teaching and Learning Department to help our staff and students continue their growth as learners. Finally, he is married and has two high school aged sons.
